The Barbarian Class is ideal for players who enjoy dealing substantial melee damage and seamlessly switching between weapon types. Barbarians are primarily focused on physical damage and offer a straightforward approach to offense and defense.
Their unique class mechanic, the Arsenal System, enables Barbarians to equip and swap between four weapons simultaneously, providing greater customization. The system includes Main Hand, Off-Hand, Bludgeoning, and Slashing weapons, allowing you to assign specific equipment to skills based on your preferences. For example, Bash can stun and heavily damage targets with a Bludgeoning weapon, but switching to a Two-Handed Bludgeoning weapon further extends the stun duration. Upon activating a skill, the best weapon in your loadout is automatically equipped.
Each weapon type has an associated Expertise stat, which levels up as the Barbarian uses it. To increase Critical Strike Chance, for instance, wielding a One-Handed Axe is beneficial. Collecting a wide variety of melee weapons is recommended to fully utilize the class’s build diversity and itemization progression. Key stats for Barbarians are Strength to boost damage, Willpower for enhanced Fury regeneration, and Dexterity to improve critical hit chances.
Like in Diablo II and III, Barbarians excel at decimating groups of enemies. Diablo IV further extends their capabilities by allowing them to focus on single powerful targets like bosses by inflicting Bleed damage. However, long cooldowns on some skills can hinder their damage output.
Barbarian abilities offer a range of options, from inflicting Bleed and crowd control techniques to team-based actions. Alternatively, you can focus on enhancing self-buffs to maximize physical damage output.
If you prefer to vanquish enemies and tackle bosses using a diverse array of melee weapons, the Barbarian is the perfect class for you.
